Massage and Burn Scar Therapy Foundation
For burn survivors, the pain doesn't stop after the fire goes out. Recovery and rehabilitation last the rest of their life.

Most Americans think of massage as a luxury. For burn survivors it is a necessity for a good quality of life. Massage and Burn Scar Therapy can help keep their scarred skin thinner and more pliable resulting in less pain and itching, more and easier ROM. It also results in less anxiety and depression, better mood, and may help in the ability to think clearly.

According to the American Burn Association, 486,000 burn injuries receive medical treatment each year. Of those, 40,000 are hospitalized including 30,000 at hospital burn centers. In 2010, a fire injury occurred every 30 minutes!
Our goal is to make massage and burn scar therapy available to all burn survivors regardless of ability to pay, to bring massage and burn scar therapy into hospitals so that burn patients can begin to receive healing touch early in their recovery, to collect data & fund research to study the effects of massage and burn scar therapy on burn survivors and to teach massage therapists everywhere about this gentle, healing modality. Please help burn survivors by donating to the Massage and Burn Scar Therapy Foundation. |
